Pole's Card - is a document confirming belonging to the Polish nation, on the basis of which you can, e.g. take a job without having to have a work permit.
Tolerated stay - status granted in a situation where the expulsion of a foreigner could only take place in a country where his life and freedom would be endangered or when the expulsion is impracticable for reasons beyond the control of the foreigner and the authority implementing the decision.
Residence card - a document confirming the identity of a foreigner during his stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland and entitling, together with a travel document, to repeatedly cross the border without having to obtain a visa.
EEA - European Economic Area, i.e. the area comprising EU countries and the European Free Trade Association, with the exception of Switzerland.
Refugee status - it is granted to a foreigner who, as a result of a justified fear of persecution in the country of origin because of race, religion, nationality, political beliefs or belonging to a particular social group, cannot or does not want to enjoy the protection of that country. Refugee status is also granted to minor children of a foreigner who were born on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
Complementary protection - the status granted to foreigners who do not meet the conditions for granting refugee status, if their return to the country could expose him to death penalty, torture, threat to health or life.
Application for international protection - application for protection of a foreigner who applies for refugee status or subsidiary protection by the Republic of Poland.
Asylum - a foreigner may, upon his request, be granted asylum in Poland when it is necessary to ensure his protection and when it is justified by the important interest of the Republic of Poland. A foreigner who has been granted asylum seems to be allowed to settle.
Performing work by a foreigner - it means employment, performing other gainful work, performing functions on the boards of legal persons who have been entered in the register of entrepreneurs pursuant to the provisions of the National Court Register or are capital companies in the organization, or conducting affairs of a limited partnership or limited joint-stock partnership by a general partner or acting as a proxy.
Illegal performance of work by a foreigner - this means the performance of work by a foreigner who is not entitled to perform work within the meaning of art. 87 paragraph 1 or does not have an appropriate work permit, not being exempt under the special provisions from the obligation to have a work permit, or whose basis of residence does not entitle him to work.
Entrusting a foreigner the illegal performance of work - this means entrusting work to a foreigner who is not authorized to work in Poland or does not have an appropriate work permit, without being exempted pursuant to special provisions from the obligation to have a work permit or whose basis of residence does not entitle to perform work, or who performs work on other conditions or in a different position than specified in the work permit, subject to art. 88f paragraph 1a-1c or art. 88s paragraph 1 and 2, or who performs work on other conditions or on a position other than those specified in the temporary residence permit referred to in art. 114, 126, 127 or in Art. 142 paragraph 3, subject to art. 119 and art. 135 section 3 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners, or performs work without concluding an employment contract or civil law contract in the required form.
Performing work in a profession requiring high qualifications - rendering work, as part of employment, by a foreigner with competences confirmed by higher professional qualifications, who - regardless of the legal relationship between the parties - performs work for or under the direction of another person for remuneration.
Higher professional qualifications - qualifications obtained as part of higher education, or at least five years of professional experience at a level comparable to qualifications obtained as part of higher education, necessary to perform the work specified in the employment contract or job offer.
Temporary residence and work permit - is granted when the purpose of the foreigner's stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland is to perform work and the conditions specified in art. 114 section 1 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners.
Temporary residence permit for the purpose of performing work in a profession requiring high qualifications - is granted if the purpose of the foreigner's stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland is to perform work in a profession requiring high qualifications and the conditions specified in art. 127 of the Act of December 12, 2013 on foreigners.
